How to Choose a right Photo

  • Focus on Main Subject

    Your image should take up most of the space of your image. This is why it is suggested that before creating a custom kit, you should crop out all the extra background to ensure that the subject matter is the main focus of your image, taking up at least 70%of the details.

  • Choose a high resolution photo

    If you order a 40x50cm standard size custom PBN, we recommend that you choose a clear photo with a resolution of 800x1000 pixels. A smaller image is inherently blurred,so it’s not recommended to choose a photo lower than 500x625px (pixels).

  • Colors & Shading

    For the best paint-by-numbers results, choose images with vibrant, high-contrast colorsand adistinct backgroundfrom the subject. Avoid mostly single-color images or white backgrounds, as white offers low contrast and may appear beige or grey in software, reducing visual impact and overall artwork quality.

  • Size of the image

    Choosing the right image size to get started is probably the most significant step while ordering custom paint by numbers. Image size is also essential as the image contents. The majority of the custom kits sold are set 40 by 50 centimeters (16 by 20 inches). It is crucial to pick a photo with at least a 4:5 ratio if you don’t want any part cut-off.

  • Keeping the Background Simple

    Having a background with less noise and clutter is a good idea. The reason is that when your photo converts to a PBN image, it only has24 colors. If there is too much noise in the background, your main subject will probably lose some of its details.

  • Pick an image with more shading and colors

    The finished painting will also be more detailed and in-depth if you use more colors.

  • The Aspect Ratio

    The image used for making your kit should have the same aspect ratio as the canvas you have ordered. Examine the original photo to see if you can clip a few extra details without changing the subject.

    If possible, crop the image to fit the proportions of the commissioned custom painting, and you will solve the problem.
